Japan Powder Camp
Thu 21 Jan - Mon 1 Feb 28 2021 £2,895
Ski Japan's legendary powder snow in the world famous resort of Niseko. Located on the northern island of Hokkaido. Niseko and its neighbouring resorts offers a great opportunity ski some of the best snow in the world and sample some Japanese food and culture. With 10 days we will try to make this a trip of a lifetime, nine days of skiing with guiding and coaching in the back-country areas of Niseko and several other local resorts.

Niseko has one of the highest total snowfalls of any resort in the world. Unlike many Japanese resorts off-piste skiing is permitted, with access beyond the resort boundary area through fixed locations, or 'gates'. Much of the off-piste is lift-served, although a bit of hiking and traversing is required to reach some of the best off piste terrain.

Accommodation will be in an extremely spacious and well appointed self-catering chalet on a room sharing basis. Bedrooms have two single beds, although can be made up with a double-bed on request. Full kitchen and dining facilities are available, giving the option to either self-cater or sample the extremely wide range of restaurants available in the village.

This holiday is suitable for level 8 and higher skiers who would consider themselves off-piste Improvers (or better) with at least a weeks experience skiing moderate off-piste slopes (blue-red) confidently and comfortably. Group size will be 6 per coach max. Backpacks with avalanche rescue equipment will be required every day so you will need to bring your own or hire locally. Helmets are mandatory and wider powder skis are recommended.

Cat Skiing Day £450-£700 per person (depends on numbers attending)
There are loads of abandoned resorts that went up in the 80's boom that have a mix of cleared old pistes and tree skiing and are only accessible by Cats which are modified piste bashers. Imagine a day of lapping your own private resort with fresh tracks on every run. Although expensive everyone I have spoken with who has skied in Japan says it was the highlight of their trip. Must be pre-booked well in advance.

Otaru Day Trip £TBD

Night Skiing £FOC
In Niseko night skiing is part of your lift pass and if conditions are clear well worth a go for the experience of skiing through the trees under the moon light.

Onsen £TBD
There are a few public Onsen (hot springs) in Niseko and if there is interest we will try to book one up. Separate Mens and Women areas but you go starkers with no tattoos allowed typically. Great way to unwind after a days skiing.

Coaching
Inside Out Coaches will be with you every day (barring the free day off). Coaching will primarily be tips for skiing off piste and we will be mainly guiding you around the mountains ensuring we find the best snow and safest lines. You will have a day off to free ski, or relax or join us for an optional cat ski day.

This holiday is suitable for level 8 and higher skiers who would consider themselves off-piste Improvers (or better) with at least a weeks experience skiing moderate off-piste slopes (blue-red) confidently and comfortably. You should be able to link multiple turns in light, above boot height, powder snow on a uniform base. May struggle to link turns in poor lighting or variable snow conditions. Can manage easy untracked terrain in fresh light/chalky snow without obstacles. Has the fitness to ski off piste for a few hours and can get up unassisted after a fall in deep snow. This is not a trip for those wanting to learn how to ski off piste but rather one to sample the best powder skiing on the planet.

Group size no more than six per coach. Video review will be minimal but we will looking to get some memorable video footage and photographs of you skiing over the course of the trip.
Accommodation
We will be staying at luxury self catered chalet(s) situated alongside the Shiribetsu River, in the midst of a tranquil forest.
