All Mountain Intro : Meribel
4-11 Jan 2020 (Sat-Sat) £958
Working with Marmalade Ski School, our Alpine partner in Les Trois Vallees, this week designed for skiers who are interested in tackling more of the mountain including steeper terrain, chopped up variable snow, icy pistes and bumps. You may have tried skiing off the sides of pistes but struggled and are keen to gain confidence in tougher conditions and deeper snow. If the conditions allow we will duck onto the sides of pistes and by the end of the week perhaps take on some steep slopes or powder snow near the pistes. No need for fat skis or special gear, your normal all mountain skis will be fine. We will be honing your all round skills with drills and exercises on piste but sampling different terrain and getting lots of mileage in variable snow conditions, bumps, steeps and fresh snow near the pistes as the conditions allow.

This holiday is suitable for confident level 7 and higher skiers who are willing to venture off piste on easy slopes (green-easy blue). Limited off piste experience, from none to a few days with a desire to improve while skiing tougher conditions such as icy slopes, steeps, bumps and chopped up snow. Conditions allowing we may get to ski some safe, fresh snow near the pistes. Relatively fit with the attitude and aptitude to progress.

Coaching

The coaching will comprise 4 all-day and 1 half day coaching sessions during the course. This is weather dependent and we may need to adjust timings over the course of the week.

The course is for level skiers who are confident level 7 and higher on our ability scale, happy on most pistes and are looking to develop to skiing off-piste bing willing to venture off piste on easy slopes (green-easy blue). Limited off piste experience, from no off-piste to a few days. Relatively fit with the attitude and aptitude to progress.

Typically, one group will be L7 skiers who will ski mainly on and around the pistes to get comfortable in icy, steep and variable snow conditions.

L8 and higher skiers will do more off the piste and by the end of the week this group may don backpacks with avalanche safety equipment with the goal of taking you into a couloir, or, an unpisted itinerary run. If you have avalanche safety equipment (backpack, probe, shovel and transceiver) please bring it but it is not compulsory and will be free issued if needed.

The course will develop your performance in all fundamental skiing skills and will help you to ski better in steeper terrain, bumps, ice and into off-piste skiing.

Group size will be no more than eight per coach. Our guest coach for this holiday is Derek Chandler from our Alpine partner ski school Marmalade. Derek is the founder of Marmalade and has over 20 seasons of skiing in Les Trois Vallees and knows the area extremely well.

We will endeavour to do video review a few evenings during the course, conditions permitting.

Accommodation

Our accommodation partner for this coaching holiday is Ski Hame, an independent chalet operator that operates a number of chalets in the Trois Vallees. Chalet Grange á Charlotte is a lovely chalet located in the traditional hamlet of Meribel Les Allues. It sleeps up to 14 people in great comfort, featuring seven en-suite bedrooms (all with full size baths except one which has a shower).

It is a very comfortable and spacious chalet, with an open plan lounge/dining area, log fireplace and underfloor heating throughout. There is a TV and DVD player, CD player & iPod docking station. There are hair dryers in every bedroom, and a boot room with full size boot dryer/warmer for comfortable boots every day! There is free wifi internet access throughout the chalet. The highlight of the apres-ski facilities is a full size indoor hot tub.

Meribel Les Allues is a short journey from the centre of Meribel itself. Chalet staff will take you each morning to the main lifts in Meribel by private minibus, where you will met the Inside Out Skiing coaches. At the end of the day we will agree a time and location for collection by the chalet staff, which could be Meribel or Meribel village, allowing for a different venue for apres-ski drinks before being taken back to the chalet. Alternatively the free resort shuttle bus can be used to travel around the Meribel valley.

Overflow Chalet - Single room occupancy is limited at our main chalet Grange á Charlotte and we have negotiated additional rooms at chalet Madeline which has 5 twin rooms with 3 separate baths and is a short 100M walk away. Once the two single rooms are taken at the main chalet we have the option for you to stay in a twin room on a single basis and take your evening meals and afternoon tea with the group at Charlotte.

Travel

Transfers to the resort
A free transfer to and from Geneva Airport is included in the cost of the coaching holiday. This gives you the freedom to choose whatever flight and departure airport is most convenient for you. Transfer to the resort will be by private minibus service. Please contact complete our booking form or contact Ski Hame to confirm transfer timings before you book your flights. As a rough guide look at flights arriving Geneva airport between 9am and 5pm on arrival day, and scheduled after 9am on departure day. There may be a wait for others on different flights as Ski Hame shares the transfer with other chalet operators and the service is very reliable and well coordinated.
Travel within the resort
The village of Meribel Les Allues is approximately 10 minutes from the main Meribel lift complex. Ski Hame's chalet staff are extremely helpful and use a private minibus to take you to the slopes each day where you will meet the Inside Out Skiing coaches. A time and pickup point is agreed each day for collection after skiing, allowing you the choice of apres-ski venues.

In addition to Ski Hame's service there is also a free resort shuttle bus service to get you anywhere within the Meribel valley and taxis are plentiful if you desire a late night out.
