Season Opener, Meribel Dec 2014 So it turned out pretty good after all...
16/12/14 16:33 Filed in: Season Opener | Coaching holidays

The beginning of the 2014-15 season will go down as one of the worst for a number of years. Despite good early snowfall in October and early November, temperatures across the Alps said stubbornly high in the six weeks leading up to the official opening dates of ski resorts across the major Alpine countries. This was a big concern for Inside Out Skiing as we got closer to our traditional Season Opener coaching holiday. Based in Meribel, this trip has been a great success over the last five years and we watched anxiously as the weather forecasts slowly turned to disappointment until a few days before the trip when the Meribel lift company confirmed that they were delaying the opening of the resort by one week. However, all was not lost as one of the great features of skiing in the Trois Vallees is the high altitude skiing above Val Thorens. The downside was the inevitability of the drive around the valley from Meribel to Val Thorens, but the upside was that at least we would have some skiing available. Little did we know when we confirmed our contingency plans just how well everything would turn out! Read More...

The Grand Motte glacier in Tignes once again provided the training ground for our 5th Pre-Season Tune-Up. This is a very early (first week of November) opportunity to get back to the Alps to work on your ski technique and help get set up for the winter.

Pre-Season Tune-Up 2013 - Can there be such a thing as too much snow?
10/10/13 18:13 Filed in: Coaching holidays | Pre-Season Tune-Up

Inside Out Skiing returned to Tignes for our fourth Pre-Season Tune-Up, slightly later in the year than previous trips. Before we arrived there had been a few decent snowfalls so the conditions on the glacier were excellent. Great snow depths and firm, grippy snow on all pistes.

Italian Food & Fun 2013
24/03/13 18:19 Filed in: Coaching holidays | Italian Food & Fun

It's a standing joke on skiing holidays that we always want it to snow heavily overnight, and then blue sky and sun during the day. It's a joke because it never happens. Except for our 2013 "Italian Food & Fun" coaching holiday, where it did more or less just that! Continuing the amazing 2012/13 season, we had brilliant conditions with a lot of fresh snow at the beginning of the week, a couple of top-ups during the week and some really lovely bluebird days in between.
