Who are they for?
Development Clinics are for skiers who are level 7, 8, 9 or 10 on our ability scale. L4, 5 or 6 skiers check out our Improver clinics and confident L6 skiers check out our Tune-Up clinics.

Typical Development Clinic
Based on three 90-minute sessions on snow with breaks during the day. Each clinic begins with a brief warm-up so we are ready to ski. During each session we will use a number of drills and exercises to focus in detail of a specific aspect of your ski performance.

10.00am - 11.30am Session 1
11.30am - 12.00pm Coffee break video analysis
12.00pm - 1.30pm Session 2
1.30pm - 2.30pm Lunch plus video analysis
2.30pm - 4.00pm Session 3 & wrap up

An all day slope pass valid from 10:00am to 4:00pm, ski rental equipment plus video review and individual feedback.
Minimum Numbers
Should a full day group clinic have only one or two people booked on it we will run the course as an extended private session consisting of two 90 minute sessions on the slope with video review during a break in between. We find that with only one or two people a full day with three 90 minute sessions is too intense and counterproductive. Your slope pass will be remain valid for the full day and you can use the remaining time to practice and consolidate the days coaching.

APRIL Linking Your Turns - The true beauty of carving your skis is cleanly linking one turn to the next by simply rolling from one set of edges to the other. In this clinic we will work on skills to ensure you make clean transitions between your turns.

MAY Steering - We will look at the different ways we can steer our skis by blending together the steering elements while being able to separate what your legs are doing from your upper body. Being able to steer the skis in different ways is a very useful skill to posses and is key to good mogul and steeps skiing as well as high performance turns on piste.

JUNE Carving: Using Your Edges - When carving your turns the best way to change how quickly you turn is to increase or decrease the angle that you tip your skis on to their edges. In this clinic we will develop skills for increasing your angles for high performance carved turns. Most people when they think they are carving are not actively piloting the skis and just set an edge. Quality carving needs the skier to be able to constantly adjust the edge angles.

JULY Advanced Carving : Inclination & Angulation - Performance skiing requires the skier to get the skis well away from the body and create large edge angles. Inclining into the turn works well at higher speeds and creates a strong "stacked" body position. Angulating, the body is quicker and helps retain balance at lower speeds.

SEPTEMBER Balance - Dynamic Balance is key to effective skiing. In this clinic we will work on getting you comfortable being in balance while moving side to side, allowing your skis to tip onto their edges further away from your body as well as improving your balance along the length of your skis to help improve speed control and reduce skidding.

OCTOBER Building Blocks - The fundamentals, or building blocks, of skiing are the foundations on which all good skiing is built. In this clinic we will develop a clear understanding of how skiing works and the movements we make by following the progression used by ski instructors when they teach skiing.

NOVEMBER Skills for Steep Terrain - To get you more confident skiing black terrain and beyond we will work on the underlying skills for short turns as well as showing you some techniques that will make skiing steeps fun instead of scary!

"It was a superb day and I’m already looking forward to doing the next one." (Nigel K.) April 2019

"Went along to a performance clinic today on pressure control with Inside Out Skiing. It's the first one I've done and have to say it was a fantastic day, learn't a lot and got masses of valuable advice from Rob. The day was well structured allowing for frequent breaks but they weren't wasted time as video footage was used to review what had been covered and areas for improvement. Thanks for a fantastic day! I'm sure I'll be returning!" (George S.) November 2012

"I loved my course on Transitions! I can ski, get down blacks but not stylishly or cleverly and have known for sometime it's some key skills I need to concentrate on which you just won't get at larger group all round lessons. These guys didn't disappoint, they deconstructed my turning to build it up from the start. I won't lie, it's tough physically and mentally but when you feel and see the improvements is a real buzz. Scott was my instructor shadowed by Dave and you couldn't meet two nicer guys who were encouraging and constructive. The video clips at break times were really useful to see your positioning etc. Highly recommended from me! Just choosing the next one to do!" (Lorna M.) August 2012

"Really great session yesterday - Scott! The 'building blocks' clinic should be compulsory for everyone" (Cathy C.) October 2011

"Got back from St Anton last Sunday,  I can’t believe how much my skiing has improved, from caving to short radius turns and I’m even getting the hang of  angulation. A mate reckoned a 50% improvement over last year. I feel I’ve achieved the two goals I set myself when I started with you. Which was to be as good as a mate, I now feel I’m better than him, and to call myself an advanced skier (although you may disagree?). So I’m setting myself a new goal of expert skier!" (Glen C.)2011

"Just wanted to say how much I appreciate the attention to detail, the individual care, the extra mile gone - what on earth time did you get home today, Rob? - and the sheer fun of the performance clinics. Unusually for me, I can actually sense that I am beginning to make some progress, all of which is down to you guys. Thanks!" (Katherine H.) September 2010

"Once again I presented Rob and Scott with the challenge of my idiosyncratic skiing technique and once again they seem to have found a way of improving it for the better! Great confidence boost, and what's more I don't ache or feel worn out" (Paul G.) February 2010

"An excellent day, with very good teaching and very good company. Everyone visibly improved with the drills we worked on, and the video feedback is so good. Although I started off the day skiing (thanks Scott!) like a chalet girl, I was quite pleased with myself by the end. Lots of exercises and stuff to work on - I'd highly recommend a day like this to anyone." (Rachel) August 2009
